The purpose of the prize is to promote and highlight high quality architectural realisations completed between 1 July 2010 and 30 June 2013. The selection criteria are the following: respect for the environmental and human dimensions, appropriate use of materials and structures, as well as the quality of construction details from the point of view of functionality, sustainability and aesthetics.
PARTICIPATION AND CATEGORIES
The prize is open to architects worldwide and multidisciplinary teams led by architects. Submissions may be submitted in the following categories: residential, public or private; commercial, public buildings (educational, cultural, religious, sports, leisure, health-care);
landscape architecture. Registration and upload of entries takes place simultaneously online. Submission languages are English and Italian. There is no registration fee.
PRIZES
The Barbara Cappochin Prize, worth 30 000 euros, will be awarded as well as a prize of 5000 euros for a realisation located in the province of Padua and three mentions. Besides, the Giancarlo Ius* Gold Medal will be awarded to the most innovative work in the field of
energy saving and renewable energy sources.
* Architect Giancarlo Ius, who disappeared tragically in 2008, was a UIA Vice-President,
JURY
The international jury is composed of the following architects: Leopoldo Freyrie, President of the C.N.A.P.P.C., Italy; Alberto Cecchetto, Italy; Abe Ryo, Japan; Nikos Fintikakis, Greece UIA Council Member; Francisco Mangado, Spain, Victoria Myers, USA, U.I.A. representative and Nicola Leonardi, Managing Director of the Italian magazine "The Plan".

Organised by the Barbara Cappochin Foundation and the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists of the Province of Padua the prize is in conformity with the conditions of the UNESCO-UIA regulations for international competitions, and has the
support, since 2005, of the International Union of Architects (UIA) and that of the Italian National Council of Architects, Town Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists (CNAPPC).
