This design competition titled - latrobe city (transiting cities - low carbon futures international design competition) questions "how designers can promote and encourage new innovative and alternative opportunities to emerge in order for latrobe city to transition into a low carbon, prosperous, and vibrant future.

This is an ambitious project that will take place on an international stage while maintaining a local focus, "thinking globally and acting locally".

We will call on renowned international designers and academic institutions from a wide range of disciplines including architects, landscape architects, urban designers, planners, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, economists, artists and students. Each entrant will submit design visions for how Latrobe city: the associated coal mining industry and agglomeration of townships may be transformed and current aspects strengthened for the future.

All participating teams will be given the same site in Latrobe City, a defined brief and specific submission requirements that they will be required to fulfil.

Prize money and fame will be awarded to the winning projects!
